Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups zwieback crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 2 (8 oz) cream cheese
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup orange-flavored liqueur

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine zwieback crumbs, 2 tablespoons sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter.
  2. Press the mixture onto the bottom and 1.5 inches up the side of an 8-inch spring-form pan.
  3. Refrigerate the crust while preparing the filling.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth.
  5. Add 1 cup sugar, cocoa, and almond extract; mix well.
  6. Beat in eggs one at a time until fully incorporated.
  7. Stir in sour cream until smooth.
  8. In a small bowl, combine 1/3 cup sugar and cornstarch.
  9. Gradually add orange juice and orange-flavored liqueur to the sugar mixture, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
  10. Pour the orange mixture into the cream cheese batter and mix until well combined.
  11. Pour the filling over the prepared crust.
  12. Bake at 325°F (160°C) for about 60 minutes or until the center is almost set.
  13. Remove from oven and let cool completely before refrigerating for at least 4 hours.
  14. Serve chilled, optionally topped with additional orange glaze or fresh orange slices.
