Ingredients

  • 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup quick oats
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup margarine, melted and cooled slightly

Instructions

  1. Combine sifted flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a bowl.
  2. Add quick oats to the dry ingredients and set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg, then mix in milk and melted margarine.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just enough to dampen the flour.
  5. Distribute the batter evenly into 12 greased muffin tins.
  6. Sprinkle each muffin with a little brown sugar.
  7. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 15 minutes.
  8. Remove muffins from pans and let cool inverted on a rack.
