  7. Pour the mushroom soup over the peppers and simmer until the peppers are thoroughly cooked.

Tips & Substitutions

For a quicker option, consider using pre-cooked rice or leftover rice from another meal. If you prefer a lighter version, you can substitute ground turkey for the ground beef. Adding some diced tomatoes or corn can enhance the flavor and texture. For added seasoning, mix in some Italian herbs or Worcestershire sauce, which complements many beef recipes well.

Serving Suggestions

These stuffed green peppers make a hearty main dish and pair well with a simple side salad or crusty bread. For a complete meal, serve with roasted vegetables or a side of 'Best In The West' Bean Bake for a filling combination. Top with shredded cheese just before serving for an extra indulgent touch.

Storage & Reheating

Leftover stuffed peppers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place them in the microwave for 2-3 minutes or bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 20 minutes until heated through. Ensure they are covered to prevent drying out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make stuffed peppers ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare the stuffed peppers a day in advance. Simply assemble them and store them in the refrigerator until you're ready to cook. This allows the flavors to meld, making them even more delicious when baked.

What can I use instead of cream of mushroom soup?

If you prefer a healthier option, you can substitute homemade mushroom sauce or a mixture of sour cream and broth. Alternatively, a creamy Alfredo sauce could also work well, providing a different flavor profile.

Can I freeze stuffed peppers?

Absolutely! You can freeze uncooked stuffed peppers. Just wrap each pepper individually in plastic wrap and place them in a freezer-safe bag. When ready to enjoy, thaw in the refrigerator overnight and bake as directed.
