Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar (scant)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups fruit cocktail
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup juice
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 egg
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Put all ingredients in a bowl and mix until wet.
  2. Pour into a buttered 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup brown sugar and nuts, if desired.
  4. Bake at 350°F for 55 minutes.
  5. Serve warm with cream or ice cream.
