Ingredients

  • 3 large potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 1/4 tsp. savory
  • 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. white pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 garlic clove, peeled
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. heavy cream
  • salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Drain potatoes and dry slices well, then place in a bowl.
  3. Mix savory, cayenne pepper, white pepper, and chopped parsley together.
  4. Add the herb mixture to the potatoes and toss to coat.
  5. Rub a baking dish with the peeled garlic clove.
  6. Butter the dish generously and arrange the potato slices in layers.
  7. Season with salt as desired.
  8. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and then mix in the milk and heavy cream.
  9. Pour the egg mixture over the layered potatoes.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 50 minutes until golden and bubbly.
