Ingredients

  • 4 cups boiling water
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 packages dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 3 eggs

Instructions

  1. Start at 1:00 p.m.
  2. Boil water, salt, and sugar for 5 minutes. Add shortening and let cool.
  3. Add flour to the cooled liquid mixture.
  4. Add softened yeast to the mixture.
  5. Beat the mixture well.
  6. Add eggs and mix thoroughly.
  7. Knead the dough for 10 minutes. Dough should be double in size by 6:00 p.m.
  8. Knead down the dough at 9:00 p.m.
  9. Shape the dough and put into greased pans.
  10. Let the dough stand overnight.
  11. In the morning, bake at 420°F for 12 to 15 minutes.
