Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 small can pineapple, crushed
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup nuts
  • 1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, shortening, and eggs until fluffy.
  2. Sift flour, soda, baking powder, and salt together three times.
  3. Add the sifted dry ingredients to the sugar mixture and blend well.
  4. Add crushed pineapple, vanilla, nuts, and chopped maraschino cherries, blending well.
  5. Pour the batter into an angel food pan and bake for 1 hour at 350°F.
