Paris Puffs are delightful, airy pastries with a tender crumb, rolled in cinnamon-sugar for a sweet, aromatic treat perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar

Instructions

  1. Grease muffin cups.
  2. Mix shortening, sugar, and egg together until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, blend the flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with milk, mixing after each addition.
  5. Fill muffin cups two-thirds full with the batter.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 to 25 minutes until golden.
  7. Remove from oven, then roll the puffs in melted butter.
  8. Coat the buttered puffs in cinnamon and sugar mixture before serving.
