Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon dried marjoram
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 4 large baking potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Combine the grated Parmesan cheese, dried marjoram, salt, garlic powder, grated nutmeg, and ground pepper in a small bowl to make the seasoning mixture.
  2. Set the seasoning mixture aside.
  3. Use a glass casserole dish for baking.
  4. Layer one-third of the sliced potatoes in a lightly greased 11 x 7 x 2-inch casserole dish.
  5. Sprinkle half of the seasoning mixture over the potatoes.
  6. Repeat the layering process with the remaining potatoes and the rest of the seasoning mixture, ending with a layer of potatoes.
  7. Sprinkle the top with 2 tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese.
  8. Combine whipping cream with water to make the liquid mixture.
  9. Pour the cream mixture over the layered potatoes.
  10. Cover the casserole with foil.
  11. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  12. Uncover and bake for an additional 30 minutes.
  13. Let the dish stand for 10 minutes before serving.
