Ingredients

  • 14 c. bread flour
  • 1 qt. milk (powdered milk, mixed with water and heated until lukewarm)
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/4 lb. butter
  • 1 large cake yeast
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 c. sugar
  • raisins (if desired)

Instructions

  1. Make a well in the pan of flour; add eggs, butter, milk, and yeast.
  2. Knead until the dough is well mixed.
  3. Remove the dough from the pan and clean the pan with shortening.
  4. Put the dough back into the pan and knead a few times.
  5. Cover the pan and let the dough rise until doubled in size, about 2 hours.
