Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/3 cups water

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar until well mixed.
  2. Add eggs and vanilla; beat for 1 minute at medium speed.
  3. Combine all dry ingredients: flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Alternately add dry ingredients and water to the creamed mixture, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Pour batter into a greased and floured pan.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 30-40 minutes.
  7. Cool the cake and then frost.
