Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 5 c. water
  • 4 beef bouillon cubes
  • 1/2 c. ketchup
  • 1 (16 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 to 3 carrots, sliced
  • 2 to 3 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 tsp. basil
  • 1/3 c. pearled barley

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a skillet and drain excess fat.
  2. Combine all ingredients in a large soup pot.
  3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to simmer.
  4. Simmer for 2 hours until flavors meld and vegetables are tender.
