Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, cut in cubes
  • 2 cups sliced carrots
  • 1 cup sliced celery
  • 1 green pepper, cut in 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 cup mushrooms, fresh or canned
  • 1/4 cup margarine
  • 1 (13 oz.) can Swiss Steaks
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 envelope G. Washington broth

Instructions

  1. Saute potatoes, carrots, celery, green pepper, onion, and mushrooms in margarine in a large skillet or Dutch oven until barely tender.
  2. Add the Swiss Steaks and G. Washington broth to the vegetables.
  3. Dissolve cornstarch in cold water and add to the mixture.
  4. Simmer for 5 to 10 minutes until the stew thickens.
  5. Season to taste and serve.
