Ingredients

  • 3 1/4 to 4 cups sliced peaches
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Mix sliced peaches with 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon. Let stand at room temperature.
  2. Sift together the flour and baking powder. Blend in 6 tablespoons sugar, salt, and butter until crumbly.
  3. Combine egg with milk. Stir into the flour mixture and blend well.
  4. Spread the dough into a well-greased 9 x 7-inch pan.
  5. Top the dough with the prepared peaches and their juice.
  6. Cream together the butter, 1/2 cup sugar, and 6 tablespoons flour to make the topping.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of the topping over the peaches.
  8. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 35 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Serve warm with Cool Whip, ice cream, or milk on top.
