Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups toasted, unsalted, shelled peanuts

Instructions

  1. Put sugar and water in a saucepan and boil until the sugar is dissolved and becomes dark and clear.
  2. Add butter and stir until melted.
  3. Boil the mixture for 15 minutes or until the syrup reaches the hard crack stage (325°F).
  4. Add toasted, unsalted peanuts to the syrup.
  5. Stir and then remove from heat.
  6. Spread the candy on buttered baking sheets or press into buttered patty pans.
  7. Cut or break into irregular pieces.
