A flavorful and tangy pear chutney with sweet raisins, ginger, and spices, perfect for serving with cheeses, meats, or as a condiment for a variety of dishes.

Ingredients

  • 16 cups chopped pears
  • 1.5 pounds seedless raisins
  • 1 pound brown sugar
  • 3 cups white sugar
  • 1.5 jars ginger marmalade
  • 3 tablespoons salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 6 cups cider vinegar
  • 1 or 2 cloves garlic pressed
  • 3 lemons chopped fine with grated rind

Instructions

  1. Put all ingredients together in a large pan and bring to a boil.
  2. Let bubble for 20 to 25 minutes, testing to see if pears are done.
  3. Pour the hot chutney into jars and seal.
