Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. corn syrup
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 1/4 c. pecans
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 2 Tbsp. butter

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar, corn syrup, salt, and water in a saucepan.
  2. Cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Stir in pecans.
  4. Continue cooking until the mixture reaches 300°F on a candy thermometer.
  5. Turn off the heat.
  6. Add baking soda and butter, then stir quickly.
  7. Pour the mixture onto a greased or parchment-lined cookie sheet.
  8. Allow to cool completely.
  9. Break into pieces to serve.
