Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. butter or margarine
  • 1 small (8 oz.) package cream cheese
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter

Instructions

  1. Cream together butter or margarine and cream cheese.
  2. Add flour and mix with a fork or pastry blender until combined.
  3. Form into 1-inch balls, flatten, and carefully press into 2 small greased muffin pans.
  4. Mix brown sugar, chopped pecans or walnuts, egg, melted butter, and vanilla to make the filling.
  5. Fill the pastry cups with the filling, being careful not to overfill.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.
  7. Cool for 10 to 15 minutes; the cups should then easily lift out of the tins.
  8. Store covered in the refrigerator.
