- Sift together the flour, salt, and baking soda.
- In a large saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar, and milk.
- Bring the mixture to a boil.
- Stir constantly for 1 minute.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in powdered sugar, nuts, coconut, and vanilla.
- Blend in the dry ingredients.
- Turn the mixture into a greased 15 x 10 x 1-inch pan or two 9 x 9 x 1-inch pans.
- Bake at 375°F for 25 to 30 minutes.
- Do not overbake.
- Cut while warm.
