Ingredients

  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup sifted powdered sugar
  • 1 cup nuts
  • 1 cup coconut
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Sift together the flour, salt, and baking soda.
  2. In a large saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar, and milk.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  4. Stir constantly for 1 minute.
  5. Remove from heat.
  6. Stir in powdered sugar, nuts, coconut, and vanilla.
  7. Blend in the dry ingredients.
  8. Turn the mixture into a greased 15 x 10 x 1-inch pan or two 9 x 9 x 1-inch pans.
  9. Bake at 375°F for 25 to 30 minutes.
  10. Do not overbake.
  11. Cut while warm.
