Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup oleo
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon anise flavoring
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Mix oleo, baking powder, anise flavoring, sugar, and eggs. Beat until oleo is dissolved.
  2. Add flour, mixing dough with hands.
  3. If dough is too soft, add more flour so that dough is not sticky.
  4. Form a log and cut in pieces about 3 inches wide.
  5. Roll each piece into a pencil-thin rope.
  6. Twist the rope to form a cookie shape.
  7. Bake on a greased cookie sheet at 350°F for about 10-12 minutes.
  8. Cool and frost.
