Pineapple Sauce Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 c. plain flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 egg (unbeaten)
  • 1 c. nuts
  • 1/2 c. crushed pineapple
  • 1/2 c. chopped candied cherries
  • 1/2 c. chopped candied pineapple
  • 1/2 c. chopped dates

Instructions

  1. Beat butter until creamy.
  2. Add sugar gradually, beating until light and fluffy.
  3. Add egg; beat well.
  4. Add nuts and fruit.
  5. Add remaining ingredients to flour.
  6. Add flour mixture alternately with pineapple sauce, beating after each addition.
  7. Pour into 2 greased loaf pans (8 x 4 x 3-inch).
  8. Bake at 350° for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
