Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 3 eggs
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • grated rind of 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon anise seed
  • confectioners sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, use a pastry blender to work flour and shortening together until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
  2. Set the mixture aside in the refrigerator to chill before using.
