Pizza By The Yard

Ingredients
- 1 lb. lean ground beef ⓘ
- 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste ⓘ
- 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese ⓘ
- 1/4 cup chopped green onion
- 1/4 cup chopped black olives ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon dry crushed oregano ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon salt ⓘ
- 2 cups rolled bread or dough ⓘ
- 2 sliced tomatoes
- 1 green pepper, cut in rings ⓘ
- 1/4 cup finely shredded cheese ⓘ
Instructions
- Brown the lean ground beef in a skillet.
- Drain excess fat from the beef.
- Add tomato paste, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped green onion, chopped black olives, dried crushed oregano, and salt to the beef.
- Simmer the mixture for 8 to 10 minutes.
- Prepare the dough as directed (roll into a 14 x 16-inch rectangle).
- Lightly oil a large baking sheet and place the dough on it.
- Place the meat filling lengthwise down the center of the dough.
- Cover only the center third of the dough with the filling.
- Cut into the dough every 2 inches on each side of the filling.
- Cross the strips diagonally over the filling to create a braided look.
- Tuck in the ends of the strips.
- Let the assembled dough rise for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes.
- Top with sliced tomatoes, green pepper rings, and sprinkle with shredded cheese.
- Bake for an additional 5 minutes until cheese melts and toppings are heated through.
