Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. bulk breakfast sausage
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 to 1/2 cup ice water
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons mixed Italian dried herbs
  • 2/3 cup vegetable shortening
  • Hot Dipping Pizza Sauce

Instructions

  1. Brown sausage in a frying pan.
  2. Drain excess fat from the sausage.
  3. Combine flour, Parmesan cheese, Italian dried herbs, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  4. Cut in vegetable shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Add cooked sausage to the mixture.
  6. Mix until sausage is evenly distributed.
  7. Sprinkle with ice water and stir until dough is just moist enough to handle.
