Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. ground chuck
  • 1/2 lb. hot pork sausage
  • 1/4 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • Tabasco sauce to taste
  • 1/2 lb. Velveeta cheese
  • Melba Rounds (garlic, onion, or plain)
  • Shredded Mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Combine the ground chuck and hot pork sausage in a large skillet.
  2. Cook until browned, then drain well.
  3. Stir in tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, and Tabasco.
  4. Add Velveeta cheese in small chunks and cook over low heat until melted, stirring constantly.
  5. Spoon small mounds of the mixture onto Melba rounds.
  6. If freezing, place the rounds on a baking sheet and freeze, then transfer to plastic bags for later use.
  7. When ready to serve, remove from freezer and place on a baking sheet.
  8. Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit until bubbly.
  9. Sprinkle shredded Mozzarella cheese over each round before baking or while hot if not freezing.
