A vibrant Italian-style tomato sauce infused with garlic, basil, and red pepper flakes, perfect for pairing with spaghetti for a flavorful, comforting meal.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 c. olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes
  • 4 basil leaves
  • 1/4 tsp. oregano
  • 2 Tbsp. fresh parsley
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 tsp. red crushed pepper
  • 1 lb. spaghetti

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet.
  2. Add halved garlic cloves and sauté until golden. Remove and discard garlic.
  3. Add canned tomatoes and squash with a fork.
  4. Stir in basil leaves, oregano, parsley, salt, pepper, and red crushed pepper.
  5. Cook until the sauce comes to a boil.
  6. Lower heat to a medium simmer and cook uncovered for 15 to 25 minutes.
  7. Serve over cooked spaghetti with Parmesan cheese, if desired.
