Ingredients

  • 1 cake yeast
  • 1/4 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 cup scalded milk
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar

Instructions

  1. Dissolve 1 cake yeast in 1/4 cup lukewarm water.
  2. Add 1/3 cup scalded milk, 1/3 cup sugar, melted butter, salt, beaten eggs, and 4 cups flour to the yeast mixture.
  3. Beat thoroughly, then cover and let rise until doubled in size.
  4. Stir the dough down and let it rise again until doubled.
  5. Take 1 teaspoon of dough and dip it in melted butter.
  6. Roll the dough in a mixture of 1 cup sugar, nuts, and cinnamon.
  7. Pile the balls loosely in an ungreased angel food pan.
  8. Let the rolls rise for 30 minutes.
  9. Bake at 400°F for 10 minutes, then reduce temperature to 350°F and bake for an additional 30 minutes.
  10. Immediately turn the pan upside down when baked.
  11. Serve warm, allowing everyone to pluck their roll from the central supply.
  12. Reheat wrapped in foil or serve cold as desired.
