Ingredients

  • 6 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 2 eggs
  • 10 tablespoons melted butter
  • extra sugar

Instructions

  1. Take 3 cups flour, add sugar and salt, and resift.
  2. Scald milk and cool to lukewarm.
  3. Measure 1/2 cup milk and stir in yeast.
  4. Stir slightly beaten eggs and melted butter into remaining milk.
  5. Combine egg mixture with flour, sugar, and yeast mixture.
  6. Stir well until it looks like thick syrup.
  7. Cover with a towel and let rise for 1 1/2 hours.
  8. Stir in remaining flour and refrigerate overnight.
  9. Grease a large tube pan.
  10. Turn dough on a floured board and form into small ping-pong-sized balls.
  11. Dip each ball in melted butter and in cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  12. Form a single layer on the bottom of the pan and cover with pecans.
  13. Repeat until 3 layers are formed.
  14. Let rise until doubled in size.
  15. Bake at 325°F for 50 to 55 minutes.
  16. Remove from pan immediately and leave upside down on a plate.
  17. Best served hot.
