Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 slightly beaten eggs
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar and flour in a large bowl.
  2. Put margarine, Crisco, cocoa, and water in a pan and let come to a boil.
  3. Remove from heat and pour into the flour and sugar mixture.
  4. Add buttermilk and eggs to the mixture; beat well.
  5. Sprinkle soda over the batter; mix well and add vanilla.
  6. Pour into a greased and floured 9x13 inch pan.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes.
