Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, consider substituting half the vegetable oil with applesauce or yogurt. You can also use a blend of whole wheat and all-purpose flour for added nutrition. If you want a nut-free version, simply omit the walnuts or replace them with sunflower seeds. Ensure the baby food is at room temperature before mixing for better incorporation.

Serving Suggestions

This plum bread makes a delightful breakfast or snack on its own, but it pairs beautifully with a dollop of cream cheese or a spread of butter. For a festive touch, serve it with a side of Fabulous Fruit Dip. A warm cup of tea or coffee complements it perfectly, making it a great addition to brunch or afternoon gatherings.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftover plum bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days, or refrigerate for up to a week. To freeze, wrap slices tightly in plastic wrap and place in a freezer bag, where they can last for up to three months. Reheat individual slices in the microwave for 10-15 seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use fresh plums instead of baby food?

Yes, you can use pureed fresh plums! Simply pit and blend about 2 cups of ripe plums until smooth. This may alter the texture slightly, so adjust flour if necessary to maintain the right consistency.

How do I know when the bread is fully baked?

To enhance the flavor, add a sprinkle of orange zest to the batter. This subtle citrus note complements the spices and makes the bread even more aromatic. It’s a great way to elevate your baking!

Can I make this recipe vegan?

Yes! To make this plum bread vegan, replace the eggs with a flaxseed meal or applesauce. Use a plant-based oil and ensure the baby food is free from animal products. The texture may vary slightly, but it will still be delicious!
