Tips & Substitutions

For a crispier coating, ensure the potato mixture is pressed firmly onto the chops. If you don't have instant flaked potatoes, you can use finely crushed potato chips as a substitute. Additionally, marinating the pork chops longer in milk can enhance tenderness. Pair this dish with sides like roasted vegetables or a fresh salad for a balanced meal.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the pork chops with the broiled pineapple on top for a sweet and savory combination. This dish pairs beautifully with rice pilaf or a light coleslaw. For a more filling meal, consider adding mashed potatoes or a side of Canned Baked Beans With Bacon Or Frankfurters.

Storage & Reheating

Leftover pork chops can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place the chops in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10-15 minutes or until warmed through. Avoid using the microwave to prevent the meat from becoming tough.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use bone-in pork chops instead of loin chops?

Yes, bone-in pork chops can be used for this recipe. They will add more flavor due to the bone, but cooking time may vary slightly. Ensure you check for doneness with a meat thermometer, aiming for an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).

What can I substitute for minced onion?

If you don't have minced onion, you can use onion powder as a substitute. Start with half the amount, as onion powder is more concentrated. Alternatively, finely chopped green onions or shallots can also work well to add flavor.

How do I know when the pork chops are done broiling?

Pork chops are done when they reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C). Use a meat thermometer to check. The meat should be slightly pink in the center and the juices should run clear. Avoid overcooking to keep the chops tender and juicy.
