Ingredients

  • 6 large potatoes
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups sweet milk
  • 1/2 cup yeast
  • flour

Instructions

  1. Boil potatoes with jackets on; then drain and squeeze dry with a towel.
  2. Remove the skins and mash the potatoes until smooth and free of lumps.
  3. Add butter, egg, and sweet milk; allow to cool slightly.
  4. Beat in yeast until well combined.
  5. Gradually add flour until the dough becomes stiff.
  6. Allow the dough to rise until it doubles in size.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of the risen dough onto a baking sheet and bake until golden.
  8. Dough can also be dropped into meat soups for pot pie.
