Ingredients

  • 1 medium-size head green cabbage (about 2 lb.)
  • 1 medium onion
  • 3 Tbsp. salad oil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. coarsely ground black pepper
  • 1 (16 oz.) pkg. frozen potato pierogies
  • 2 medium tomatoes
  • 1 link Polska kielbasa (Polish sausage)

Instructions

  1. Coarsely slice the green cabbage and discard tough ribs.
  2. Thinly slice the onion.
  3. In hot salad oil, cook the cabbage, onion, salt, and black pepper for 20 minutes or until vegetables are tender and lightly browned, stirring occasionally.
  4. Add sliced Polska kielbasa to the cooked vegetables and cook until sausage is heated through.
  5. Cook frozen potato pierogies according to package instructions and serve alongside the sautéed cabbage, onion, and sausage with cut tomatoes on the side.
