Ingredients

  • 2 lb. bag frozen hash browns, thawed for 30 minutes
  • 1/2 stick melted margarine
  • 1 medium diced onion
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 pint sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients together in a bowl.
  2. Pour into a buttered 13 x 9-inch baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle crushed potato chips on top.
  4. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour.
  5. May be prepared a day in advance; refrigerate and add topping just before baking.
