Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

Instructions

  1. Sift the flour and baking powder together.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Alternately add the flour mixture and the milk, beginning and ending with the flour.
  5. Add vanilla and mix well.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan.
  7. Bake at 325°F (163°C) for about 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
