Ingredients

  • 16 oz. package Quaker Oat Squares cereal
  • 2 cups pecan pieces
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup margarine
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 250°F (121°C).
  2. Combine cereal and pecan pieces in a 13x9-inch pan and set aside.
  3. Combine light corn syrup, brown sugar, and margarine in a microwave-safe bowl.
  4. Microwave on high for 1 1/2 minutes and stir.
  5. Microwave at high for an additional 0.5 to 1 1/2 minutes or until boiling.
  6. Stir in vanilla and baking soda, then pour over the cereal mixture.
  7. Stir to coat evenly.
  8. Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 20 minutes.
  9. Spread on a baking sheet to cool.
  10. Break into pieces to serve.
