  • 1/8 tsp. sugar
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 c. washed and finely chopped greens (parsley, spinach or sorrel)

Tips & Substitutions

For added depth of flavor, consider using homemade chicken broth. If you're short on time, store-bought broth works just fine. You can substitute fresh tomatoes with canned ones if they're out of season. Feel free to experiment with greens; kale or arugula can also add unique flavors. Adding a splash of lemon juice just before serving can brighten the soup.

Serving Suggestions

Serve Prince Charles Soup hot for a comforting meal or chilled for a refreshing summer dish. It pairs beautifully with crusty bread or a light salad, such as German Cold Potato Salad, to complement the flavors. For a heartier option, consider serving it alongside Chicken Stuffed With Potatoes.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, gently warm the soup on the stovetop over medium heat, adding a splash of water or broth if it has thickened. Avoid boiling to maintain the flavor and texture of the greens.
