Ingredients

  • 1 unbaked crust
  • prunes
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • vanilla

Instructions

  1. Cook the prunes until soft.
  2. Add sugar to the cooked prunes to taste.
  3. Seed and mash the prunes thoroughly.
  4. Spread the mashed prunes just to cover the bottom of the unbaked crust.
  5. Beat the eggs in a bowl, then add sugar, butter, flour, salt, milk, and vanilla, and mix well to make custard.
  6. Pour the custard into the prepared crust with the prunes.
  7. Bake at 400°F for a few minutes until the custard begins to set.
  8. Lower the temperature to 200°F and continue baking until the custard is fully set, about one hour.
