Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon cloves
  • 2 2/3 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 1 can pumpkin
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together.
  2. Using an electric mixer, add the other ingredients and mix well.
  3. Divide the batter equally into 2 greased loaf pans.
  4. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Allow to cool before removing from pans. Freezes very well.
