Ingredients

  • 3 qt. water
  • 1/4 c. beef bouillon
  • 1 lb. beef chuck
  • 1/2 c. barley
  • 1 c. stewed or whole tomatoes
  • 1 qt. diced potatoes
  • 2 cans mixed vegetables
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. ground allspice

Instructions

  1. Bring water to a boil; add beef bouillon and beef chuck a pinch at a time.
  2. Simmer for 15 minutes; add barley, stewed or whole tomatoes, and spices.
  3. Simmer for 10 minutes, then add diced potatoes and simmer for 15 minutes.
  4. Add mixed vegetables and simmer until all ingredients are tender and flavors meld.
  5. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed; add more water if necessary.
