Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 3/4 to 2 cups sifted confectioners sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan.
  2. Add the brown sugar and cook over low heat for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  3. Add the milk and continue stirring until the mixture comes to a boil.
  4. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  5. Gradually add sifted confectioners sugar until the frosting reaches the desired spreading consistency.
  6. Use immediately to frost cakes or cupcakes.
