Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 rounded teaspoons shortening
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients until well combined.
  2. Roll out the dough like pie crust.
  3. Cover the dough with flour.
  4. Double over the dough, then again.
  5. Press with a rolling pin to flatten.
  6. Cover the top with flour.
  7. Start at one end and roll the dough into a roll.
  8. Slice diagonally from the end of the roll into thin slices.
  9. Drop the slices into boiling broth.
  10. Do not stir; push them apart gently.
  11. Boil for 5 minutes. Do not cover.
