Ingredients

  • 5 peaches or apples
  • 5 slices white loaf bread, trimmed crust
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 stick butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. Place sliced peaches or apples in a pie plate and sprinkle a little sugar over them to prevent browning.
  2. Cut each slice of bread into 4 or 5 strips and weave into a lattice crust over the fruit.
  3. Mix sugar, flour, melted butter, and beaten egg well to create the glaze.
  4. Brush the crust with the mixture to coat it evenly.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 to 40 minutes until golden brown.
