Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 Tbsp shortening
  • 1 can (1 lb) tomatoes, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/4 cup Heinz 57 sauce
  • 4 oz uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 tsp sugar

Instructions

  1. Brown beef and onion in shortening. Drain off excess fat.
  2. Stir in water, tomatoes, Heinz 57 sauce, sugar, and uncooked elbow macaroni.
  3. Mix well to combine all ingredients.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat to low and simmer, uncovered, for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally until macaroni is tender.
  6. Garnish with minced parsley if desired.
