- Alternate, starting with bread, then ham, then pumpernickel or rye, then cheese, white bread, chicken and wheat bread.
- The amount of spread needed depends on the amount you spread.
- Some bakeries will "color" bread if you ask.
- You can trim ends before spreading and cut in triangle shapes or use cookie cutters.
- Use long toothpicks to keep sandwiches together.
- May garnish with olives.
