Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Combine yeast and 1/2 cup warm milk in a 2-cup liquid measuring cup; let stand for 5 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the yeast mixture, remaining milk, sugar, vegetable oil, salt, and beaten egg.
  3. Gradually add 1 cup of flour, stirring until smooth.
  4. Gradually stir in enough remaining flour to make a soft dough.
  5. Place the dough in a well-greased bowl, turning to grease the top.
  6. Cover and let stand in a warm place free from drafts for 15 minutes.
  7. Punch down the dough; cover and let stand in a warm place free from drafts for another 15 minutes.
  8. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface; knead 3 to 4 times.
  9. Divide the dough into 24 pieces; shape each into a ball.
  10. Place the balls in two greased 9-inch square pans.
  11. Cover and let stand in a warm place free from drafts for 15 minutes.
  12. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
