Ingredients

  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 1/2 packages yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Pour boiling water over butter, sugar, and salt; let cool.
  2. Dissolve yeast in warm water; beat in eggs.
  3. Add the yeast mixture to the cooled butter mixture.
  4. Add flour; mix well.
  5. Let sit overnight, covered, in refrigerator.
  6. Shape the dough 2 hours before baking.
  7. Melt butter or margarine and brush onto tops as rolls are shaped.
  8. Sprinkle with sesame or poppy seed if desired.
  9. Bake at 425°F for about 12 minutes.
