Ingredients

  • 4 blocks margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4.5 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 2 cans Tsubushian red bean mixture
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Cream the margarine and sugar together until smooth.
  2. Add vanilla and stir to combine.
  3. Gradually add flour and mix well to form a dough.
  4. Divide the dough in half.
  5. Press half of the dough into a greased 9 1/2 x 11-inch baking pan to form the base layer.
  6. Spread the red bean mixture evenly over the dough in the pan.
  7. Top with the remaining dough, spreading it evenly over the red bean layer.
  8. Beat the egg and brush it over the top of the dough.
  9. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
