Ingredients

  • 2 gallons tomato juice
  • 2 onions, diced
  • 20 drops cinnamon oil
  • 20 drops clove oil
  • 8 cups white sugar
  • 6 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 cups vinegar

Instructions

  1. Boil down the tomato juice with the diced onions until about one third of the original volume remains.
  2. Mix in the white sugar and cornstarch thoroughly.
  3. Add the vinegar and salt, then cook until the mixture thickens and is well combined.
  4. Add the cinnamon and clove oil drops almost at the end of cooking.
  5. Seal the hot catsup in jars and store.
