Refrigerator Pan Rolls are soft, buttery yeast rolls that can be made ahead and stored in the fridge, perfect for fresh bread with breakfast or dinner gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1 3/4 c. water
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 5 1/4 c. plain flour

Instructions

  1. Combine 3/4 cup hot water with sugar, salt, and margarine; cool to lukewarm.
  2. Dissolve yeast in 1 cup warm water.
  3. Add yeast to water-sugar mixture; add beaten egg and 2 1/2 cups flour; beat until smooth.
  4. Add enough flour (about 2 3/4 cups) to make a soft dough.
  5. Turn out on a lightly floured board and knead until smooth and elastic.
  6. Place in a greased bowl and turn to grease the top.
  7. Cover tightly and refrigerate until doubled in bulk, about 4 to 5 days, or until needed.
